Terms of service

Last updated: October 16, 2026

These terms apply to your kwatch account, kwatch Pro licenses and trials, and the license service at api.kwatch.dev. kwatch is operated by Abdelrahman Ahmed ("we"). By creating an account or using a license key you agree to these terms.

The software

kwatch is source available under the Elastic License 2.0 (ELv2). The Community edition is free and needs no account or license key. Pro features are enabled by a license key. Releases up to and including v1.0.0-rc.10 remain available under the MIT License.

Licenses

  • One license key is active on one cluster at a time.
  • You may move a license to another cluster up to 3 times per 30 days, using the installer or the account page. Releasing a license on uninstall counts as a move.
  • A licensed kwatch renews with the license service daily and keeps Pro features for up to 7 days if it cannot reach it.
  • When a license expires, is revoked or cannot be renewed, kwatch falls back to the Community edition and keeps detecting and alerting.

Early access

kwatch is in early access. Pro licenses are free, last 3 months (90 days) from issue and require no payment details. Each account may start Pro licenses for up to 2 clusters. For work email addresses the limit is 2 clusters per company domain in total, across all accounts using that domain, including deleted accounts. We may renew or extend a license at our discretion.

Pricing

Pro is free during early access. If we introduce paid plans, we will announce prices in advance on this site, and you will never be charged without explicitly purchasing a plan. Payment, renewal and refund terms will then be shown at checkout and form part of these terms.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • share a license key or use it on more clusters than it allows;
  • create multiple accounts or use other email addresses to obtain additional free licenses;
  • move, change, disable or circumvent license key functionality, as the ELv2 also forbids;
  • overload, probe or attack the license service, or use it other than through kwatch, the installer and the website.

Your account

Keep your license keys private. You are responsible for activity using your keys. If a key leaks, use Regenerate key on the account page. You can delete your account at any time.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or revoke a license or account that breaches these terms or the ELv2, for example key sharing or trial abuse. Where practical we will contact you first. Suspension affects Pro features only; kwatch keeps running as the Community edition.

The service

We aim to keep the license service available but do not guarantee it. Outages shorter than the 7-day offline allowance do not affect a licensed cluster. We may change or discontinue features of the service with reasonable notice.

No warranty

kwatch and the license service are provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose. kwatch helps you notice failures but cannot guarantee that every failure is detected or that every alert is delivered.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including lost profits, downtime or missed alerts. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for kwatch in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms. We will post changes on this page and update the date above, and announce material changes on this site. Questions: hello@kwatch.dev. See also the privacy policy.
